Let's Get Gardening Appeal target reached

4 Nov 2024

We are so delighted to share the news that the 'Let's Get Gardening' fundraising appeal target has now been reached!

The appeal was launched with the aim of having a sensory garden installed at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit in Glenfield (BMHU). BMHU is an acute facility for adults with severe mental health conditions who come to us to get the treatment they need and start their road to recovery.

Whilst the garden is currently used for horticultural therapy sessions for patients to plant seeds and grow vegetables, the other half is still uneven and unusable.

Therefore, we launched the appeal looking to raise £25,000 to create a sensory garden for patients to include a walkway made from several different materials like stones, logs and bark designed for the patients to engage their senses as well as providing a seating area for reflection and socialisation.

We are so grateful for the support of the local community, businesses, trusts and foundations that have helped us reach this target. These include:

  • Next Giving
  • One Stop Community Fund
  • Maud Elkington Trust
  • Leicestershire & Rutland Masonic Association
  • Himat Tanna Trust
  • Asda Foundation
  • Barkby Seekers
  • Starbucks
  • Florence Turner Trust
  • Schreier Foundation
  • Clockwise Credit Union

We are so grateful to everyone that donated. Your support will help us make this garden a reality for our patients.

We are currently in the process of organising when the work will start and look forward to providing updates over the coming months with the details of the opening event we plan to hold in the Spring of 2025.
