Art students create stunning mural for The Beacon mental health facility

Leicester College art students worked with young people at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s state-of-the-art mental health facility to create and install a mural to promote wellbeing.  Raising Health, LPT's charity provided funding for the materials.

The College’s year one Art and Design students created the mural, which was recently installed at The Beacon, based at the Glenfield Hospital site. The Beacon offers a safe, welcoming and positive environment for individuals who need mental health inpatient care.

The vibrant mural features tropical leaves, hearts, doves, the peace sign and the word love. It has been created using spray paints in a mix of neon colours and black and white.

Kris Trigg, Lead Artist and Tutor at Leicester College said: “It has been a pleasure to work with our art design students to create a mural to support and promote wellbeing and positive mental health for all of the young people at The Beacon Unit.”

Carolyn Pascoe, Fundraising Manager at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s charity, Raising Health, added: “We really appreciate the work of the students and staff at Leicester College to create a fantastic mural for our Beacon Unit.

“It was great to see the students and our young people from The Beacon working together to improve the environment for our young patients.”
